Doll Coat Rack

A couple of years ago, my wife was searching for “White Elephant Gifts” for some upcoming holiday parties.  She came across a few items on Pinterest that she thought were absolutely hilarious.  One of those items was a coat rack.  Not any coat rack, but a coat rack that could be mounted to a wall which was made of doll parts, namely doll limbs.  She thought we should make a couple, so we went to a local thrift store, here in Utah we went to Deseret Industries, and shopped for some used dolls.  We found a couple that were real disasters, but the limbs were still in good condition.  The funny part of the story is that the person at the checkout counter felt really sorry for our children as they were about to receive some really sad and beat-up dolls for Christmas. Well, here is the result of our first attempt.

My wife painted the bases with some craft paint.  The other one that we made was blue and the limbs were a little longer and a little slimmer. We took the first one to Lorna’s family party.  Suffice it to say that it was very funny.  Family members were laughing and making fun.  They really got a kick out of it. The second one we took to a New Years Eve party at a neighbor’s home.  There were a dozen or so couple from our neighborhood.  Suffice it to say, that it was a huge hit.  Throughout the process of opening gifts of taking something that was open or choosing an already opened gift, the doll rack changed hands several times.
